Questions people usually ask us before taking off in Tenerife
Iām afraid of heights ā will I have a bad time?
Not at all! In paragliding you donāt feel vertigo because you donāt have direct visual contact with the ground: youāre not standing on a ledge or hanging from a building. Youāre gliding smoothly through the air, without fixed references, and the feeling is more like sliding gently down a slide.
Is paragliding in Tenerife safe?
Absolutely. Safety is one of our main priorities ā weāre the first ones interested in getting home safe and sound to our families.
To give you an idea, paragliding safety depends mainly on the pilotās training, since the rest of the factors ā experience, weather conditions and equipment ā all hinge on that:
Experience. With Letās Fly you can feel completely at ease because all our pilots are certified tandem pilots by the Spanish Federation of Air Sports. They are highly experienced, with a minimum of 10 years of flying, and also compete in solo flights at regional and national level.
Weather conditions. These must be perfectly interpreted by the pilot. As weāve said, our pilots are highly qualified, and if conditions arenāt clear at the time of take-off, the flight will simply be postponed to another time at no extra cost to you.
Equipment. Itās essential not only to have excellent equipment in perfect condition but also to check and renew it frequently. We never cut corners: we use state-of-the-art gear and renew it at least once a year.
What happens if the pilot decides the weather conditions arenāt suitable?
We constantly check forecasts and always try to schedule flights in optimal conditions. If thatās not possible, weāll contact you to arrange another time with better weather.
This rarely happens, but since forecasts can change, thereās always a chance that at take-off the pilot decides itās better not to fly. In that case, weāll reschedule your paragliding flight or refund your payment.
Because your safety ā and our pilotsā safety ā always comes first.
What physical condition do I need for paragliding?
None at all. Youāll only need to take a few steps at take-off before youāre already flying. If you can take a few small steps, you can paraglide!
Am I too old to go paragliding?
Definitely not. Age is not a problem for paragliding. At Letās Fly weāve flown with passengers from 6 to 87 years old.
Flying is about attitude ā stepping out of your comfort zone and exploring new sensations. The only safety requirement is to weigh between 30 and 100 kg.
What should I wear for paragliding?
Take note:
Comfortable clothes, preferably long trousers (itās cooler at altitude).
A jacket (and if you donāt have one, weāll lend you one).
Closed sports shoes ā essential.
